Debugging stored procedures in Visual Studio 2008

This article gives the step by step procedure to be followed to debug the stored procedures in visual studio 2008
Full Description
1. To debug the stored procedures Firewall settings need to be changed in the server machine.
Go to Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy -> Windows Firewall Advanced Security -> Windows Properties.
Update the properties…
Firewall state : On(recommended)
Inbound connections: Allow
Outbound connections: Allow (default)
2. Open the Visual Studio.
3. Select Server Explorer by clicking Ctrl+Alt+S
4. Right click on the panel and Select Add Connection… (Opens the Choose Data Source Dialog).
5. Select Microsoft SQL Server as Data Source and .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server and click Continue on Choose Data Source Dialog
6. Add Connection dialog opens
7. Enter the Server name.
8. on server name entering, "Select or enter database name" option will be enabled in Connect to a database group. Select the database name which is connecting to your debugging application .
9. Set Log on to the server as "Use Windows Authentication".
10. Click on "Test Connection". If connection success, Test connection succeded, Daliog will be displayed.
11. Expand the stored procedures list item and select the procedure which you want to debug.
12.Put the break point.
